Big Mix

German blog die Stagediven linked to us yesterday, and holy mother!, they have three versions of “Last Christmas” that we didn’t have! I have no idea what the entry says, but the versions they posted are amazing. In fact, all of today’s versions are Magical Snowflake Award winners. I think this is the most diverse mix of all the days, so please check them all out, visit the artist sites, tell them how cool they are, and buy their stuff. To save their bandwidth, we’re going to repost the mp3’s from die Stagediven, but please go check out their site for a ton of other great holiday mp3’s.

This version ought to be a big hit with the Erlend Øye fans from Day 6. It sounds sad, desperate, and amazing. I think a small part of me believes this is what real heartbreak sounds like. All that I could understand from the site is that Wolke is currently on tour. If anyone can read German and wants to shed some light on this awesome version, please email us!

WolkeLast Christmas

This is the second awesome offering von die Stagediven, and it’s equally as poignant as Wolke’s. It’s almost as if his frustration is driving him mad as the song progresses. Mon)tag is another German band, hence we can’t read the site. But go to the site and check out the other downloads.

This is way more fun that the last two posted at die Stagediven; it’s like Crash Tokio want to throw a party to celebrate the heartbreak, but don’t want to seem like total jerks about it. Genius.

All I can think while listening to the following is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Rose – Last Christmas

Coming up is an…odd…version to say the least. “Last Christmas” as told from one squirrel to another, in a rather vulgar manner. It’s like some kids got ahold of some helium and had a lot of spare time. I can’t tell if this is hilarious or stupid. It’s mildly funny, but…not. Nice try kids. WARNING, THIS ONE IS GROSS. PARENTAL ADVISORY, or whatever.

Here we have another brilliant take on the song (everyone must be listening to Shane). Stafrænn’s work reminds you of Sigur Rós or Rachel’s, giving us an ethereal, sleepy, completely original take on the song. This is either the most hopeful or most depressing version we’ve presented to you, dear readers.

And hey! Look who stopped by! Darren Hayes from Savage Garden! Chik-a-cherry cola! Is that how the lyric goes? Who cares! Honestly though, this is not a terrible version. In point of fact, Savage Garden does remind me of kind of Wham2K in the first place, so I can totally enjoy this on some level.

This comes from the Rosie Christmas holiday album, where you can find other gems like Rosie O’Donnell singing with Elmo. What a treat.
