Big Mix 2008 #1

We have a big mix for you today to make up for lost time! So let’s dispense with the formalities…

Itchy Poopzkid Itchy Poopzkid is a German Punk-ish band, and this is from 2005. I couln’t find much more on this particular single, but they are on tour with a new album coming out in January.

It’s a little hard finding info on a band named Wow, but this was about the only clue. But we are including a special “WoW Last Christmas” video below. This version does however have the same vocal intonations that the Smurf’s version did, so we are curious as to which came first…

This was another difficult one to get info on, but the album this particular version comes from is available on emusic and it promises a “Non Stop Party” so we advise caution in purchasing. Should injury result from improper or lengthy partying, we at LC HQ shall not be held responsible.

Monique is chill. Monique is sensual. Monique is Brazilian.

MotR were a ’70s UK pop band, who apparently disbanded in 1977. This page shows a 2005 release of “Last Christmas” which may sound confusing but it’s one of the quit and get-back-together deals with them finding renewed popularity in in the ’90s. Anything else you want to know you gotta find out yerself.

Finally! another R&B version! This one kind of has a Boyz II Men vibe, but we may be forcing that comparison since we’re in Philadelphia. But he is from southern California, which is, like, not Philadelphia, so maybe we have no idea what we’re saying.

I like this dude; there’s a complete purity to his obsessive recording (he claims to have over 8000 recordings to date). I particularly enjoy his updated takes on traditional gospel songs. “Last Christmas” was released as a free download through myspace and his mailing list and while it doesn’t quite have the spark of his other recordings, it’s still quite charming.

I think D-Line is a Polish DJ but I can’t read his site. He offers many free mp3 downloads for your enjoyment on his site. Anyways, what sets his “Last Christmas” apart from the other dance versions, is the drumline insertion throughout various parts. It’s otherwise pretty traditional and a fun revamp
