We’re having a lot of fun today folks. First, we had a mention in Philebrity on Thursday. Second, what an insane mix of versions we have today! We also want to admit, that we may have led you astray…when we first estimated our count for the year, we said our total count “won’t be nearly as impressive as last years.” Lucky for you, we couldn’t have been more wrong! All thanks to a mysterious benefactor who has been filling our inbox with HUNDREDS of versions. We have also arranged a special treat for you guys, which we’ll offer next week, and it’s a doozy, seriously, come back a week from today and poop your pants at its awesomeness.
Knoxville’s Bad Animal emailed us with this fantastic, hyper, casio-driven version that’s hard to dislike, unless you’re a big-time Burgermeister Meisterburger. There are plenty more awesome tunes gracing his myspace page, which you should definitely have a listen to.

Bad Animal – Last Christmas
We also had this sent to us recently by South Carolina rock ‘n’ rollers, The Fire Apes. They describe themselves as having “music [that] is most commonly considered to be reminiscent of such bands as The Beatles, Green Day, Oasis, The Kinks, and The Pretenders.” I don’t know that I get any of those vibes in particular song, and I don’t mean that negatively. Maybe I’m wrong; I’ll let you guys decide.

The Fire Apes – Last Christmas
This sounds like a complete joke, but I’d be deeply disappointed to find out it is. Señor Pulpo not only sheds tears during his daring rendition, but also sings like he’s 6 beers into an amazingly awesome karaoke night at the cantina. He gets a snowflake, no doubt.

El Pulpo – Last Christmas
WHOA! Did you guys check out that amazing portrait on Dieter’s site yet?! Dieter, in appearances and musical offerings, gives off a ’70s singer/songwriter vibe that is impossible to dislike. This track comes from his amazingly titled Lieblingsweihnachtslieder album with many other Christmas songs for your amazement.
Dieter Thomas Kuhn – Last Christmas
I feel as though this bio of Antonio is a bit lacking. And while I can’t claim to know more about his history, I think his cover really reveals the true Antonio. His sensual guitar work is enough to melt the underpants off of at least one million ladies.
Antonio De Lucena – Last Christmas
I don’t think we linked to the correct Ensemble below; his resumé includes collaborations with Björk, & Cat Power and has had exhibition work in museums and galleries. What we have here is slow pop version that isn’t unlike many others we’ve posted.
Ensemble – Last Christmas
WHOAx2! Another awesome portrait for the Band Lars Vegas Trio, who incidentally aren’t loungey in any way. And it appears there are FIVE people in this TRIO. Not unlike Ben Folds Five was only a trio. Same but different and vice versa…anyways…This has a sort of campgroundy, singing-round-the-fire air to it. Very loose and fun. And these guys know fun.
Lars Vegas Trio – Last Christmas
No clues as to who Naim or Veronica could be, but this sounds almost identical to the Wham! version.
Naim y Veronica – Last Christmas
Pumo & Spray, what an awesome band name! Same ole dance version. Buy it here.
Pump & Spray – Last Christmas
Now this is how you jazz up a dance version! The Sax Brothers create sax driven club music. Interestingly, two of their three releases are filled with Careless Whisper remixes.
The Sax Brothers – Last Christmas
I sort of like 2nd Boy’s mix of homebrew keyboards with big house beats. No info other than we know this exists, because we just listened to it.
2nd Boy – Last Christmas
Good lord! You know there are a lot of dance versions of a song when we post four in one day! For those mathematically inclined, that’s one-third of our output today that could be played in your local discotheque. I think I speak for everyone when I say, enough already!
But if you want, you can buy the single here.
Luvstar – Last Christmas (Extended)
Look at these sassy guys!
