Madonna vs. Wham!, Max Raabe & Goov

Did you miss us? Before we resume posting, one little bit of rather important info was delivered to our inbox this morning, from one “Angel”:

The current German Top 20… and again Wham! entered them (mid of Dec. 08). Last year they reached the Top 5 and this year? Top 3?? Or… Number 1??? We will see, I’ll keep you updated… but here the current Top 20:

01. Katy Perry – Hot ‘N Cold
02. Polarkreis 18 – Allein Allein
03. P!nk – So What
04. The Killers – Human
05. Bushido feat. Karel Gott – Fuer Immer Jung
06. Schaefer Heinrich – Das Schaeferlied
07. Britney Spears – Womanizer
08. Amy MacDonald – This Is The Life
09. Beyonce – If I Were A Boy
10. Curse mit Silbermond – Bis Zum Schluss
11. Herbert Groenemeyer – Glueck
12. Reamon – Through The Eyes Of A Child
13. T.I. feat. Rihanna – Live Your Life
14. Rosenstolz – Gib Mir Sonne
15. Madonna – Miles Away
16. Rihanna – Disturbia
17. DJ Oetzi – Noch In 100.000 Jahren
18. Peter Fox – Haus Am See
19. Pussycat Dolls – I Hate This Part
20. Wham! – Last Christmas

First we have a great mash-up (tis the season apparently) that does the magic with Madonna’s “Into the Groove” with the Whamsters, and it works surprisingly well. This comes from Giac who shares a number of Madonna mish-moshes at his/her divshare page.

Secondly, a revisit from year one, as it seems that Max Raabe and merry band also recorded “Last Christmas” in English!

We also received this next one today, coupled with the Top 20 list. Info is super scarce, though a handful of Google pages will come up if you search for it. It’s a dancey mash up also, we think.

Lumino, Roberto Blanco, Nikki Webster, Kenji and Ray Hamilton

Let’s think about this for a second… This one’s labeled as the “ballroom dance instrumental.” So it’s intended to be danced to, probably at ballroom dance competitions and whatnot. Therefore it stands to reason there must be some sort of dance steps for “Last Christmas.” It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

More international hip-hop!

Lumino – Last Christmas

This next one is the shortest dance version we’ve come across, clocking in at just under two minutes.

Robert Blanco – Last Christmas

Nikki Webster doesn’t try anything particularly new in her version, but she sounds like a sweet lady.

This is another fun hip-hop version. Um…yeah.

Das Palast Orchester, Collage, Kymaera, and Tinh Ca Giang Sinh

Remember earlier when I said that “Last Christmas” is not in my personal Top 10? Well, the following version has made me do a lot of soul-searching about that. Of all the different versions of “Last Christmas,” this is without-a-doubt one of the best. It’s totally in the Top 10 of what we’ve presented to you. Probably the Top 5. I cannot stress enough how amazing this version is.

Collage just jumps right in with a sort of ’90s-radio-dance thing going on. Think Snap (“Rhythm is a Dancer”), only with a dude at the helm.

Kymaera is a Latin jazz band, and they love George Michael. So much in fact, they have an entire album dedicated to him and his music on amazon and itunes. They also have an extra download from the album on their site .

There is a little bit of confusion over here for us. When this was originally presented to us, it was labeled with “Tinh Ca Giang Sinh” as the artist, but we could only find a Vietnamese christmas cd by that title, and no “Last Christmas” on the track list. A little help?
