Tell you what: To make up for the lack of updates lately, we’re going to do a NEW post EVERY DAY until Christmas ’09 (Christmas Day not included). Deal? Deal. Today we bring you an assortment of remixes. Not a mashup of mashups, not a potpourri of potpourri, but a mix of mixes. Let’s get started:
21 year-old Younha is a J-Pop and K-Pop sensation! At least, according to her wikipedia page:
Younha made her debut as an artist at the young age of sixteen. Nicknamed the “Oricon comet” for her success in Japan, she has released eight singles and two albums there with varying degrees of success. Several of her songs have been featured in anime and drama series.
Here she teams up with Kim Jo Han for a brilliant, soulful live performance of everyone’s favorite Christmas classic.

But then she teams up with Korean hip-hoppers Dynamic Duo for a remix which doesn’t sound a damn thing like the gem we all know and love. That is, until about 3 minutes in. Then that tinkley piano comes in and you know it’s about to get real. I don’t think I’d ever heard Korean rap before, but it’s kinda awesome. Sounds a lot like English rap.

Younha has 3 different sites (here’s the 3rd one), at 3 different labels, in 2 different languages – neither of which I speak. So I don’t know what she’s up to, but it looks like she’s got an album coming out called 3rd album part B which is a pretty awesome name.
Output Jack (brother of Kangaroo Jack???) put together this trance remix of Jimmy Eat World’s version. It’s pretty much what you’d expect: DA BOM!

Well troops, just like Vanessa Williams, we like to save the best for last. Audio maniacs Mixcutz have put together this Allstars Remix, which sounds like it’s taken the original version, the Crazy Frog version and 2 minutes of some crazy German guy giving a speech, and mixed them all together. There are other versions in there, but beats me trying to figure out who they are. Who knows? You’d need a tricorder to sort it all out.

Because of its sheer boldness, we’re giving this one the coveted Magical Snowflake Award. Remember those?

The Holy Night Orchestra by Jesus McMillan (maybe the best name ever?) deliver solid holiday party background tunes on their album “Merry Christmas.” This album is filled with mostly traditional holiday songs and “Last Christmas” and oddly enough “The Neverending Story”…
What begins as a pretty ordinary cover, quickly turns into magic as Pham Xuan Thang manages to meld the #1 and #2 UK Christmas songs from 1984. That’s right, “Do They Know It’s Christmas” follows “Last Christmas” and then gives way to “Happy Xmas (War Is Over) followed by…well…you’ll have to find out.
